DIY PEDICURE

Hello beauties,

It's the start of a new work year for almost everyone and for most of the children that starts today. Let's put our best foot forward for this year the right way!

Weather you want to spoil someone or to spoil yourself you can achieve great looking feet in the comfort of your own home by simply following these easy steps below.

Step 1: To have a good quality pedicure it's essential that you get the follow items together.
  • Grab a tub with warm water - not to hot, to soak your feet in.
  • A nail file
  • Cuticle stick
  • Foot Soak like  Oh So Heavenly ~ Marine Minerals: Cleanse your sole: Foot Soak
  • Foot Scrub like Oh So Heavenly ~ Marine Minerals: Sole Smoother: Foot Scrub
  • Foot Butter like Oh So Heavenly ~ Marine Minerals: Treat your feet :Foot Butter
  • Pumice stone
  • Base Coat, Top Coat and a colour of your choice. {Gents can leave these items out}
  • Cuticle Oil
  • Towel
Step 2: Remove any nail polish that you might have on your toe nails with Polish Remover and use some cotton pads or cotton balls to remove all the polish on your toe nails even those around your cuticles.

Step 3: Start your soak: Fill you tub with warm water not to hot just warm enough to enjoy. You certainly don't want to burn.  Then add your Foot soak to the water.  Now it's time for you to sit back and relax!  Let your feet soak for 10 minutes, the hot water will soften the calluses and remove any dirt or grime that might have built up over time.  This will also help to soften your cuticles.  This would help when you are going to paint your nails a bit later.

Step 4: Clean up and soften your skin: Now it's the time to move to your actual feet.  Use your pumice stone to scrub down the calluses on the heel and on the ball of your foot.  Please work gently on your feet with your stone don't work to harsh, since you don't want to damage your skin, otherwise your skin will respond by thickening the area to protect the sensitive area. Now use your  foot scrub to scrub down any old skin.
  • Be sure to rinse your feet with clean water after the scrubbing.

Step 5: Prepare your feet for polish: Remove your feet from the tub completely and pat your feet dry. You can now apply the foot butter to your feet.  Used keep in mind if you are going to paint your nails not to rub your nails with the foot butter, since the base coat wont stick on oily nails.

Step 6: File your nails : File your nails down and remember to file in one direction only.  It's important to file it in one direction to avoid splitting and damaging your nails.  Please do not use nail clippers at all - I've noticed many articles on the Internet state to cut your nails down then to file. You are doing more harm than good to your nails.  Please use a Emery board file it's way better than any other files on the market. Want to know why i prefer those type then i would recommend that your read my post about File Wise Nail File here

Step 7: Prepare your cuticles: Use your cuticle stick to gently push your cuticle back on each nail. Rub a little cuticle oil to your toes to supplement the skin.

Step 8: Add your base coat: I really like essence the gel no polish Base Coat. This would prevent that your nails from staining and it also makes your polish last longer on your toe nails.

Step 9: Apply your colour of choice: Select a nail polish colour and start to paint your nails.  Start from the center of your nail to fill in the colour. You may need to paint to layers of colour to achieve an opaque layer of colour.

Step 10: Finish your nails: Wait a few minutes for your polish to dry then add your Top Coat. The Top Coat will help that your nails would look great for longer and to prevent the polish to chip. I would recommend to wear sandals so that you prefect painted nails won't smudge, but the best would be to put your feet up and relax with a good book,

Now you are ready to show off your perfectly painted toes!
