DIY MANICURE AT HOME FOR LADIES

GET YOUR NAILS READY FOR SUMMER

Hello beauties,

It's Friday today and i'm sure that you all are glad that the weekend are finally here! And that they perfect time to give your nails the tender loving care that they deserve.  We tend to take care of our hair etc, but most of use don't take the proper care of our hands.

STEP 1: GET YOUR SUPPLIES

To give yourself a manicure make sure that you have the following equipment at hand.

• Kitchen paper towel
• Nail Polish remover
• Cotton balls or cotton pads. I prefer to use cotton pads they are so much better to work with.
• Nail file (Emery board/glass file/crystal file)
• Small bowl
• Warm water
• Hand Towel
• Soap - liquid
• Nail brush
• Cuticle Oil
• Orange stick / Cuticle stick
• Hand & Nail Cream
• Base Coat
• Nail Polish - any colour of your choice
• Top Coat

STEP 2: SETTING UP YOUR WORK SPACE

Nail Polish and remover can damage many surfaces such as cloth, wood and plastic. Thus i would recommend using kitchen paper towel to protect your work space.

STEP 3: REMOVE YOUR OLD NAIL POLISH

Use your nail polish remover and cotton pads to clean your nails.  Some nail polish remover may dry the areas around your nails, but do not be concerned unless you have an allergic reaction.

STEP 4: FILE YOUR NAILS

Filling and shaping the nail are your next step.  Use your nail file (only used the ones that I've mentioned above for natural nails) and file them to the length and shape that you prefer.  Remember the rule - only file in one direction. Gently drag your file across the nail rather than pushing it. Excessive force will weaken the nails and make them weak. Do not round the corners of your nails, since this can lead to ingrown nails

STEP 5: SOAK YOUR NAILS

Get your bowl with warm water NOT HOT WATER ready and a few drops of soap. Soak your hand for a while, the water and soap will help to remove any dirt, dead skin and any dust left  from filling your nails and to soften your cuticles.

Use your nail brush to gently to clean your nails and and the skin around them. gently wash your nails underneath to remove any dirt.

◘ If you have dry skin or fragile nails you should not soak them, but just rinse them.
◘ Don't go overboard with scraping, since you may damage your nails.

STEP 6: PREPARE YOUR CUTICLES

Dry your nails and apply cuticle cream or oil. Gently push back your cuticles.  Do not force your cuticles back and never cut your cuticles.  Wipe of the excess oil with the kitchen towel in the direction that you have pushed.

STEP 7: PAINTING YOUR NAILS

Apply a base coat to your nails. If you prefer your nails to be bare apply a treatment polish or strengthener.

Once the base coat is dry to a light touch you may begin to apply the polish of your chosen colour. Repeat this if your prefer two coats. Excess polish can easily be removed with a clean up brush, Cotton tipped orange-wood stick or cotton dipped toothpick moistened in polish remover.

When the polish is dry to a slight touch you can apply a top coat to seal the polish.  Be sure to brush a little under the tip of the nail to give the polish extra protection from chipping.

STEP 8: APPLY A HAND CREAM OR LOTION

Squid a little hand cream or lotion onto your hands. Once the polish is dry you can apply the hand cream, but be sure to massage it in gently although your nails are dry on the outside it still takes a couple of hours to dry completely.

Till next time,
